Signed to Decca Records you have the insanely talented Aurora Aksnes who comes all the way from Bergen, Norway. Even though the focus is on Aurora she is also backed by a band consisting of Alf Godbolt (Keys),
Magnus Åserud Skylstad (Drums), O. Martin (Bass) and Fridius Totalus (Synth).
Now Aksnes is a talented singer/ songwriter who has an impressive back catalogue of songs. This Norwegian girl may have not released an album but she has released 5 singles and these being Puppet (2012), Awakening (2013), Under Stars (2014), Runaway (2015), Running With The Wolves (2015) and Murder Song (2015). Also I have to say she has release the Running With The Wolves EP which includes 4 singles Awakening, Under Stars, Runaway, Running With The Wolves and 2 new songs and these being In Boxes and Little Boy In The Grass. Recently this masterpiece got pressed onto 10″ vinyl and I absolutely adore this record.
If you are a fan of the electropop genre then you will fall in love with Aurora. Having missed the performance on this years The Great Escape, I had the chance to witness her perform at Miranda, Ace Hotel which is located in Shoreditch. Back then I was surprised she showcased 5 brand new cuts which have to feature on the album whenever that may be. At that show you had the likes of Lucky, Warrior, Under The Water, Demons and Conqueror all of which showcased her talented songwriting skills and her sweet vocals. The hypnotic sticky sweet vocals actually sent chills up my spine. Out of those new songs my favourites were both Warrior and Conqueror, I definitely look forward to hearing the actual studio cuts.
Hearing material by Aurora Aksnes captivates me completely. Signed to Decca, Glassnote, Petroleum this sweet 19 year girl has an extremely bright future. From witnessing this girl live just the once I highly recommend her.
I’m actually surprised she is just doing the one date in the UK next month at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen. Plus she is supporting Of Monsters And Men at O2 Academy Brixton. Back in June she also supported Nick Mulvey at Somerset House as part of the yearly Summer Series.
