Young Galaxy: Under My Wing Single Review

Young Galaxy are a tantalising twosome consisting of ex STARS touring guitarist Stephen Ramsay and his partner Catherine McCandless. They’ve seriously got something good going and this April will see them release their first fully Independent album. They formed way back in 2004 and the debut YG release came in 2006. Since then they’ve gone on to release 5 sensational full lengths on multiple record labels.

The forthcoming Independently released LP Down Time marks a brand new chapter. Young Galaxy come all the way from Montreal, Quebec, Canada and listening to lead single Under My Wing leaves me excited for what’s to come in the nearby future.

Here is what they have to say regarding this single“It’s a song that sleeps during the day and walks the empty streets at night. It’s about the failure of capitalism, the isolation of suburbia, and the drive to discover sensuality, connection, and a spark of life in the face of despair”.

I’m full of praise when it comes to this succulent song, Under My Wing has been perfectly produced and Catherine’s airy vocals were candy coated. That synthy/ upbeat melody was extremely relaxing and then you had those compelling lyrics which left me in a complete trance. Under My Wing was the perfect piece of dreamtronia.

To coincide with the LP, Young Galaxy will be touring America and tickets go on sale JANUARY 16TH at 10AM EST.
