Yesterday (11/01) saw dazzling duo Ferris & Sylvester unveil the official music video for Better In Yellow. This succulent song is the second to be taken from upcoming EP Made In Streatham. I’ve had a sneak peek of Made In Streatham and I’m literally amazed. The Yellow Line was a tremendous debut but Ferris & Sylvester have definitely surpassed themselves with the sophomore.
Better In Yellow came out on 17th November 2017 and the song immediately captivated me. Whilst it’s dripping with plenty of country/ Americana vibes you can also pick up on traces of pop within the song. I found this to be an uplifting fun fueled jam along with addictive lyrics which leave me smiling from beginning to end.
Here is what they have to say regarding this vibrant video “The video is a dreamy, retro portrayal of the colourful sentiment in the song. We wanted the video to be striking and simple, using bold and clashy colours to get that old TV set vibe. We had so much fun making it. We spent a day throwing paint, punching cakes and chucking glitter around. A massive thank you to everyone involved with the project, especially to the director, Sam Rookes who brought our crazy ideas to life”.
Better In Yellow was a real masterpiece, the song is ace and the video was giving me nostalgic vibes (for starters the video had an aspect ratio of 4:3 and secondly there’s static lines at the very beginning). Both the lyrics and visuals perfectly complemented one another which resulted in something truly addictive.
Now the colour yellow features prominently throughout this work of art. Yellow is such a vibrant colour and it never fails to brighten up your day. I do feel a little sorry for Reagan Muir though as she got drenched in yellow mustard and someone also cracked a egg over her head.
Aside from all of that Better In Yellow featured on BBC Introducing’s ‘Best of 2017’ list and has clocked up well over 200,000 plays on Spotify.
