Camden’s Dingwalls played host to an epic evening hosted by GIRLI. This sold out show was the 2nd stop of Milly’s first ever headline tour which made it something I never dreamed of missing.

This spectacular set compromised of 11 electrifying tunes and things kicked off with Fuck Right Back Off To LA. Milly burst onto the stage wearing a pink puffy dress along with DJ “Rosalie” Kitty. Now this was a venomous anthem, those verses were rap fueled whilst the punchy chorus was sugary mellowing bubble gum pop “I hope she gives you love/ Like the groupies do/ I hope she gives you love/ Now I’m thinking Fuck You”. Plenty of energy flowed from this captivating performance. “Is anyone feeling kinda angry today?” Toomey said before getting stuck into Girls Get Angry Too. This was a fierce rap esque cut aided by thumping beats and contagious lyrics “Don’t tell me that I’m super cute/ I’m a samurai princess/ I’ll smash you”. Basically you wouldn’t want to get on GIRLI’s bad side. Still this was one exquisite number and Milly’s vocals were pure perfection. “Dingwalls what the fuck! This is so fucking crazy, this is my first ever headline tour. This is the biggest show I’ve played in London ever and it’s sold out. What the fuck? I used to come here when I was like 15 and watch bands play here. I totally love this venue” Toomey mentioned before getting stuck into something from the Hot Mess EP “This is about dating someone and you’re scared to call them baby” Milly said before Can I Say Baby?. This was an upbeat jam packed with captivating lyrics that had me moving on the spot. “Dingwalls I thought I would dress down for the occasion. This next song is about being yourself” Milly Toomey mentioned before getting stuck into Not That Girl. Literally everyone was singing along to those super catchy lyrics. Those vibrant verses were incredibly upbeat but my favourite part had to be the blitzing hook “I’m really sorry that I’m not the girl/ Who would give the world just to be your girl/ It’s kinda funny that you’re on your own/ It’s kinda funny that you’re even asking me/ I’m really sorry if my dirty tights/ Make you think that you’re gonna score tonight/ It’s kinda funny that you’re on your own/ It’s kinda funny that you’re even asking me”. Following on it was time for the retro sounding Girl I Met On The Internet. This tune was ever so blissful aided by smooth dreamy vocals. The whole melody had me swaying from side to side and the delectable lyrics left me in a complete trance  “Oh it will happen like it does in the shows/ I like her eyes and she’ll like my clothes/ Ask for her digits and I start to sweat/ She’ll become the Girl I Met On The Internet”. Newie Day Month Second was outstanding. This was the second time of singing this number live and Milly breezed through it without a fault. The vocals were candy coated, the lyrics had me hooked from the get go and the melody oozed plenty of dance vibes. Next it was onto yet another track from the Hot Mess EP and this coming in the shape of Neck Contour. Now this mega catchy song was a mixture of rap meets spoken word which was a perfect combination. Once over it was then onto the formidable Too Much Fun. This was a wonderful concoction of pop meets rap. The delicious verses were sung at a fast pace whilst I found the smooth club like chorus to be rather mesmerising “In my dream you take me to the side/ In my dream you say you’ve got feelings you can’t hide/ I wish one day my dream could be in real life/ Coz in my dream I never wanna close my eyes/ In my dream you call me come and chill at mine/ In my dream it’s me and you all of the time/ I wish one day my dream could be in real life/ Coz in my dream I never wanna close my eyes”. All in all this was tasty number painting the picture of a wild night out. “So Dingwalls this next song is about a really grouchy old man. I want to dedicate it to another grouchy man I know” GIRLI said before putting on a Donald Trump facemask. The delightful Mr 10PM Bedtime was rapped bubble gum pop. Those sizzling lyrics were extremely quirky and incredibly contagious at the same time  “Don’t tell me one more time/ That I’ve been trashing you’re bedtime/ I hear you knock, knock, knock on the door and you let me know/ Pipe down or you’ll have to go/ Baby don’t tell me you’re too old/ To have a little fun sometime”. This was a fun filled number which GIRLI delivered to ease. So You Think You Can Fuck With Me Do Ya? was delivered with plenty of gusto and it was the perfect way to end such an extraordinary evening. The chorus was literally unforgettable “Do you know what you’ve got instore/ Maybe soon you’ll know there’s a whole lot more/ Cause I don’t really like you with all that I’m sure/ I think it’s time we need to settle the score/ So you think you can fuck with me do ya/ So you think you could bend the rules/ So you think you could act like a loser”.

Milly and Rosalie left the stage only to return moments later for the encore. Hot Mess was an electrifying fierce fast paced cut. Plenty of energy resonated from Toomey’s performance. Still this had been well piece together as the verses left me spellbound “They say I’m a Hot Mess/ I don’t care what they say”.

OVERALL: GIRLI literally slayed a sold out Dingwalls with her high octane songs. As expected there was a stage invasion during So You Think You Can Fuck With Me (everyone had to vacate the stage so it wouldn’t collapse) plus Milly even surfed the crowd.

Well the set played was awesome and it was a pleasure to witness Hot Mess tunes Neck Contour and Can I Say Baby and the new song Day Month Second was phenomenal. It actually has me hyped for the debut GIRLI LP. Maybe a pink sparkly vinyl will happen at some point (I can still dream).
