FELIN: 21st Century Single Review

21st September saw Swedish duo FELIN unleash their brand new single 21st Century on the Sony Music imprint. This tantalising two piece consist of singer/ songwriter Elin Blom and photographer/ director Fredrik Etoall (Fredrik is the F in Felin).

Written by Elin Blom & John Strömberg this sumptuous song oozes plenty of power pop vibes. Those ballsy lyrics hit me like a full on force and I found the melody to be rather edgy. That punchy chorus was very reminiscent to UK duo The Ting Tings “All my friends and me/ We’re the future of the 21st Century/ All we do is lie, lie/ We just want to be high, high”.

I’ve listened to this gorgeous tune a number of times and I’m well and truly hooked. Blom’s vibrant vocals oozed plenty of punkish pop vibes which resulted in something rather enthralling. Here is what they had to say regarding 21st Century “We wanted to catch this struggle between all the bad that’s going on in the world right now as well as all the beauty and joy that is available to us. Cuz there are a lot of good things and the good things are meant to be enjoyed as long as we don’t lose ourselves along the way”.

Co produced by Elin the spectacular 21st Century in an anthem in the making. FELIN are currently working on new material which will be released soon, with 21st Century being out everywhere now.

UPDATE: 5th December 2017 saw FELIN unveil the Official Music Video for 21St Century and it’s an utter masterpiece. This delectable short was a FELIN production, Fredrik was both the director and director of photography whilst Elin starred. Now this tune represents western society’s people at this moment, living in the age of (supposedly more now than before) opportunity, equality, insight, freedom, technical and spiritual advancement, self-awareness and possibility.

Now the song is reminiscent of The Ting Tings during the We Started Nothing Era. Regarding the music video, I was digging those black and white visuals plus the whole stop motion was utter genius.

If I was to sum this up in one word it would have to be WILD.
