DYLYN: American Nightmare Single Review

DYLYN is the brand new musical project by pop singer/ songwriter Gwendolyn Lewis. The impeccable DYLYN comes all the way from Toronto, Canada and made her emergence earlier this year.

Having released the likes of Mimosa and Secret via Home Music Company, Gwendolyn has just unleashed her newest single and this being American Nightmare. Now this catchy song shows me that DYLYN has bundles of potential and her songwriting skills are second to none. American Nightmare is an edgy punk pop anthem aided by DYLYN’s sultry vocals and impressive lyrics which left me entranced.

This high octane song sees Lewis sing how she wants the American Nightmare rather than the American Dream “I want the American Nightmare/ I love it too much/ Don’t wanna wake up/ I’m free and I don’t care/ I’m free and I don’t care”.

Here is what she had to say of this gorgeous cut “My generation is much more in tune with our emotions and who we are than past generations. Some choose to take a traditional path in life, settle down, get married and have kids, which is cool. But, I always felt as though life was sketched out a little different for me. The ‘American Dream’ isn’t the same as it used to be. There is no age limit, gender, or rules that apply to what we have to do in life. ‘American Nightmare’ is about setting your own path and playing by your own rules. I don’t know what the future holds for me, but for now I’m still figuring out who I am and exploring this crazy path I’m on”.

American Nightmare is available to purchase from iTunes
