emaé: Better Single Review

emaé is a true talent to behold, this enchanting independent Scottish singer/ songstress comes all the way from Aberdeen but now she’s based in London. She in fact made her mark back in 2015 with the release of her debut single and this being Something Beautiful. This tune received critical acclaim all over the world. MTV The Wrap Up praised the record that ‘oozes confidence, honesty and a relatability that is rare for newcomers’; Soulbounce USA noting its ‘luscious vocals and sweet harmonies’. This number literally took my breath away, emaé’s vocal tones were light/ airy and those harmonies were on point. The following year then the emergence of the Imperfect Words EP which consisted of 4 wondrous acoustic tracks and you also had the succulent sophomore Know You.

2017 started on a high note for emaé as she was hand picked as ‘One To Watch in 2017’ by MOBO Awards. 29th March then saw emaé’s latest single Better hit the iTunes storefront, this single is the first to be taken from her highly anticipated debut album which is out later this year. Here is what she had to say about this tantalising track “Better is the song for right now, it 100% reflects where I’ve been the last year and also where I’m going. It’s a song of resilience, confidence and certainty. It’s a song I’m extremely proud of”.

Better was a piano ballad aided by catchy lyrics and a emaé’s spine tingling rich soulful vocals which literally left me completely spellbound. The exquisite vocal performance was packed with plenty of emotion and made this personal song a sheer masterpiece.
