Club Drive: Spare Time Single Review

Signed to NUA Entertainment are Hertfordshire pop quartet Club Drive. Consisting of Aaron, Tommy, Steve and Christian, this is one band who have an exciting future ahead of them. At this moment in time they are on a short tour of the UK, Tuesday 14th March saw them play at The Garage in London, 18th March will see them play Sound Control in Manchester and then it’s all capped off with a sold out show at The Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham.

Recently the band drop a brand new single and this being Spare Time. This highly addictive number follows the 2016 release of their debut EP Dangerous. Also Spare Time has just been added to the BBC Radio 1 playlist as the station’s Introducing track. This will see the song receive daytime spins from Radio 1’s biggest DJs, including Alice Levine, Dev, Clara Amfo, Greg James, Scott Mills and Adele Roberts – giving ‘Spare Time’ huge audience exposure.

Now this tune was an epic pop jam, those delectable lyrics were contagious and the impeccable vocals were incredibly refreshing. Actually I was reminded both of Maroon 5 and Fall Out Boy (during the American Beauty/ American Psycho era). I came across Club Drive whilst doing my annual scour through The Great Escape line up. When going through the C’s this four piece grabbed my attention, those vocals were extremely bubbly plus it was packed with plenty of gorgeous synths. Club Drive have passed the first phase when it comes to chose whom I want to see at The Great Escape. I’m most definitely intrigued to see what they come up with next.

Aside from that Club Drive have just released the music video for Spare Time. This video reflects how people behave outside of their normal day-to-day life. Shot in southern Spain and following a group of friends on a weekend adventure, it features stunning cinematic imagery with heaps of sunshine – the perfect setting for Club Drive’s uplifting anthem.
