Catherine McGrath: Say You Love Me Review

Born in County Down, Northern Ireland is the impeccable singer/ songwriter Catherine McGrath. At only 19 years old this teenager oozes plenty of potential and if you love your county pop then you’ll literally fall in love with her.

Catherine’s music came into my life at the end of 2016 after having heard the breathtaking One EP. Released on Warner this release consisted of 4 delicious tunes, 3 of which were spellbinding originals. The likes of Cinderella, She’ll Never Love You and Hell Would Have To Freeze Over were works of art.

Hell Would Have To Freeze Over even featured on over 35 Spotify playlists including twice on the UK New Music Friday Playlist and reached #1 on the Very Nearly Nashville Playlist – with Catherine as the cover star – and #9 on the Spotify Viral Chart. Cinderella also debuted on Spotify’s New Music Friday Playlist and She’ll Never Love You was included in the Global New Music Friday list.

Last year McGrath took a trip to Nashville and she even found the time to cover Jessie Ware’s Say You Love Me. Armed with just an acoustic guitar, Catherine sweetly delivered this to perfection. She completely owned Say You Love Me, the acoustic guitar resulted in something rather laid back and those angelic vocals left me in a trance.

All in all Catherine McGrath is a true talent and she’s someone that can prosper in 2017. Her debut EP One is a literal masterpiece and it showcases her sublime songwriting skills. Even Say You Love Me made the cut.
