Daily Dig: Taylor Jahn

Taylor Jahn is a talented singer/ songwriter who is currently based in Los Angeles. Recently he has released the latest offering from upcoming debut EP Hide Away. The single in question is Hide Away and this is like an addiction because I have this on constant repeat.

First let me introduce Taylor, coming from the small town Lake Oswego, Oregon is this impeccable songwriter. Jahn’s introduction to music came before he was even born, back then Taylor’s father placed headphones on his mother’s pregnant belly. His music pallet was fed with a dosage of artists such as Celine Dion, Fleetwood Mac, Shania Twain, The Rolling Stones and many more.

His introduction to the piano came when he was just 6 years old. That Christmas both Taylor and his brother Byron received a stand up Yahama from both his parents and Santa. From that moment Jahn had countless piano lessons and it has paid off.

Taylor Jahn’s first experience at singing came when he performed a duet in the Lake Oswego High School Talent Show at the end of his senior year. From that moment he was bitten by the bug giving him a burning passion in the process. Most notably he performed the National Anthem at a Portland Trailblazers game in front of 20,000 of his closest friends and family. Now that is one hell of an achievement.

We then get to the present day, Jahn no longer lives in Lake Oswego instead he now resides in Los Angeles. Taylor is literally pursuing the dream, he writes and sings on a daily basis, and performs whenever an opportunity arises. Also this January sees Taylor release the fruits of his labour and this coming in the form of debut EP Hide Away. I can tell this mini album will be phenomenal and I’m positive I’ll be previewing it sometime soon.

Hide Away: This delicious single is a soulful piano ballad which is extremely mellowing. It’s an emotionally charged promise of unconditional love and to be honest just listening to this song renders me speechless. At first this tantalising track begins at a soft/ gentle pace then as it progressed the vocals became rather luscious. I’ve got nothing but praise for Hide Away, Taylor’s vocal tones grabbed hold of me sending me in a complete days and then you have the lyrics which I consider to be rather hypnotic. Hide Away can quite easily tug on your heartstrings.

If I had to compare Taylor to another artist it would be without a doubt, Sam Smith. All in all this was one majectical song which is now like an addiction for me. I eagerly anticipate the release of the Hide Away EP this January.

The new single Hide Away is available as a free download on his Souncloud page for a limited time only.
