Daily Dig: Ulrika

Coming all the way from America is Swedish born Ulrika who sings hypnotic indie pop music. If I’m honest Swede’s do know how to make the best pop music take Tove Lo, Tove Styrke, Icona Pop, Robyn and even ABBA for example.

Signed to Bravo Ocean Music Group, Ulrika is an outstanding songwriter and her vocals are literally mindblowing. In fact she carefully crafted her powerful voice throughout the many years of choir school and classical training. When Ulrika was 18 she left her hometown in Stockholm, Sweden to re locate to Los Angeles. Ulrika was then sought out by music industry executive Tricky Stewart’s RedZone Entertainment (Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Chris Brown), who  then took her to Atlanta, where she currently resides, making music and running her own design company under Bravo Ocean Music Group.

Like many artists, Ulrika has been posting a number of cover songs over the past 3 years on YouTube. These artists consist of the likes of Sia, Tove Lo, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Ella Henderson, Adele, Bruno Mars, Rachel Platten and many more. OMG her cover versions are simply amazing plus they are very refreshing. Ones that stood out were Hello by Adele and Fight Song by Rachel Platten. Also Ulrika is talented when it comes to playing the keyboard.

We then come to the present day, after having released debut single Animal back in 2013. Now this song is a right corker. It was written by both ULRIKA and Grammy-nominated production team Bravo Ocean (Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Gym Class Heroes). Now Animal was an epic pop song, aided by plenty of beats, infectious lyrics and a delectable hook. Animal is literally an explosion and the thumping electronic beats easily gets you moving.

Three years later Ulrika has released  gorgeous synth pop tune and this being Oh Sally which is taken from the forthcoming debut EP Phone Home which is set to drop this April. Anyhow this was a sparkling song with lyrics which left me well and truly hooked. What I especially liked was that this tune offered a narrative, basically it is just a plea for Sally to come home and not to go running into the unknown all alone. The verses were extremely upbeat/ funky it is most definitely a slow jam you can easily groove to.

Aside from singing Ulrika leant her eyes to Cover Girl and her voice to an international campaign for Gillette. She’s also endorsed by VoiceLive play, Ray Dons Fashion, T.C. Helicon, Tannoy Speakers and more.  In addition to being part of a variety of internationally known brands, Ulrika has had the great opportunity of performing at TEDx and is currently designing signature eyewear for Rise Sport.
